Schools Travel Plan Toolkit Launched

How pupils and staff travel to and from school is an issue that affects everyone – from pupils who want to take their new scooter to school to parents taking their children to different schools, or local residents who get caught in traffic near schools. Peterborough City Council (PCC) is committed to not only reducing the amount of congestion caused by school travel but to increasing the number of pupils and staff that travel by sustainable modes. This toolkit is intended to be a guide for schools and sets out:

• A range of travel planning measures that could be implemented at your schools to reduce car travel and encourage walking and cycling.
• Guidance on developing your own travel plan and undertaking travel surveys.
• Link to websites for further information on measures.
• Key contacts within PCC who can assist you.
